Anna Mani: India’s Weather Woman and Instrument Pioneer


The efforts of Anna Mani, a pioneer in the indigenization of meteorological devices used for weather forecast and monitoring, were crucial to the achievements in the Indian meteorological sector and its modernisation. By profession, she is known as Anna Mani, an Indian physicist whose work focused on measuring ozone, solar radiation, and wind energy. 

She is responsible for many studies that have been published abroad. She began her career as a scientist by studying the optical qualities of diamonds and rubies under the tutelage of renowned physicist Prof. C.V. Raman, but she is best known in India as a renowned meteorologist.
