Giannis Antetokounmpo: His journey to the NBA
Giannis Antetokounmpo is a Greek professional basketball player for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is 6 feet 11 inches tall and plays the small forward and power forward positions. Giannis was born in Athens, Greece to Nigerian parents, Charles and Veronica Antetokounmpo. Born into a poor family in Greece, Giannis was the youngest of four children and his parents could not afford to send him to school. He had to start working at a young age to help support his family. He worked in a series of odd jobs, including being a street performer and selling goods on the streets. Giannis started playing basketball at the age of six. He was discovered by Greek basketball coach George Panagiotakos, who gave him a spot on the youth team of Filathlitikos B.C. in Athens.
